What is a floor hardener?
It is a dry powder of graded aggregate and cement broadcast onto fresh concrete
and worked into the surface with a power float. It creates a dense wearing layer
on the slab itself, rather than a separate coating that can later peel.
What is the difference between metallic and non-metallic hardener?
Non-metallic grades use natural or synthetic aggregate and suit most industrial
and commercial floors. Metallic grades use iron aggregate and are specified where
abrasion and impact are severe, such as heavy forklift or steel-wheel traffic.
Which floor hardener brands do you stock?
MYK Arment FloArm, Sika Chapdur, Fosroc Nitofloor Hardtop, STP ShaliFloor NM
(non-metallic) and STP ShaliFloor M DH (metallic, heavy duty).
When is the hardener applied?
While the concrete is still green — after bleed water has gone and the slab
will just support the finishing machine. The timing window is short, so the
material and the power float need to be on site before the pour.
Can floor hardener be applied to an existing old floor?
No. A dry-shake hardener has to be worked into fresh concrete. For an existing
slab, ask us about surface treatments intended for hardened floors instead.
How much hardener will I need?
Coverage per square metre depends on the grade and the specified finish. Share
the floor area and the type of traffic and we will confirm the quantity and pack
size with the quotation.
What is TekBond expanding PU foam used for?
Filling and insulating irregular gaps — around window and door frames, and
at pipe or conduit penetrations. It expands to fill the void, then cures and is
cut back flush.
What does the dual valve on the foam can mean?
It lets the same can be used either with the straw adaptor for occasional work or
with a foam applicator gun where more control and repeat use are needed.
Which silicone sealant colours are available?
Transparent and black are the stocked colours. Tell us the joint location and we
will confirm which suits the application.
Can silicone sealant be painted over?
Silicone sealants are generally not paintable — paint will not adhere to the
cured surface. Where a joint has to be painted, ask us about a paintable acrylic
sealant instead.
What is Loctite 401 used for?
It is a general-purpose instant adhesive for fast bonding of small components.
