What is a PVC foot stopper?
A PVC foot stopper is an external waterstop profile installed at a concrete construction joint to
create a physical barrier against water passing through the joint.
How is it different from an internal PVC water stopper?
An internal water stopper is positioned centrally within the joint. A foot stopper is generally placed
externally at the joint face or base. The project drawing determines the correct arrangement.
What types of joint protection systems are available?
Options can include PVC foot stoppers, HDPE profiles, steel-edge types, reinforced profiles, swellable
waterbars, expansion joint sheets and boards, and backer rods.
What sizes of expansion joint board do you stock?
12, 20 and 25 mm thicknesses, each supplied in a 4 × 2 ft sheet, in both the HDM and
Jointguard brands.
What is the difference between HDM and Jointguard?
They are two brands of the same product type, stocked in identical thicknesses and sheet size. Choose
on brand preference, project specification or current availability.
Where is an expansion joint board used?
It is placed in the gap at a movement or expansion joint — between floor and podium slab bays,
where a slab meets a column or wall, and between concrete road or apron bays. It holds the joint width
during the pour and compresses as the bays expand.
Is the board used together with sealant and backer rod?
Usually yes. The board fills the joint depth, the backer rod sets the correct sealant depth above it,

Where can PVC foot stopper be used?
Common applications include basements, water tanks, retaining walls, tunnels, culverts, treatment
plants, swimming pools and water-retaining structures.
Can the profile be joined at site?
Compatible PVC profiles are commonly heat welded. Joints and intersections must be properly aligned
and welded to maintain continuity.
How is the foot stopper fixed before concrete pouring?
The profile must be positioned according to the drawing and secured to prevent folding, twisting or
displacement during reinforcement work and concrete placement.
Do you provide expansion joint boards and backer rods?
Yes. Expansion joint sheets and boards are stocked in 12, 20 and 25 mm (4 × 2 ft sheets),
along with backer rods for movement accommodation and correct sealant geometry.
